Finally we can make a start: the 100 word challenge is back!

by Harry R

Finally we can make a start on the 100 word challenge we have been waiting 9 long weeks to start again I have been very eager to start doing this. My class and I have been waiting to do this again we can finally do it on our own personal blogs so I am pretty pumped to do the 100 word challenge this week. I am eager to start learning how to do mine even better than last time I did the 100 word challenge. So I am eager to read all my new comments on my new blog. Let’s make a start on the 100 WC.

Harry’s entry for this week’s 100 word challenge cleverly used the prompt to express his enjoyment of this weekly literacy challenge. To check out other students’ creativity, click on the link to their personal blogs!

Ella: He Thinks He’s Sooooo Great!…100WC week 1

“Finally we can make a start on the investigation.” The cop stated, (not very enthusiastically!)

“First we must visit the crime scene, then we may acquire some evidence. Alburt, you can get some blood samples. Rob can do the finger print powder, and ill speak to the witnesses.”

“What about me?!” I asked feeling extremely left out.

“You can… um, stand guard!” He suggested.

“Why can’t I take blood samples? Alburt can stand guard! He always gets to take blood samples!”

“Quit whining, go stand by the door.” Jeff said completely ignoring my question.

He thinks he’s soooooooooooooooo GREAT! I thought to myself containing my feelings.

100 Word Challenge Week 33 Special Showcase!

Congratulations to Jennieva and Estelle, whose persuasive texts were selected for the 100 Word Challenge Special Showcase for week 33! Week 33’s challenge was to write a persuasive letter to world leaders to convince them to act now to help the 57 million children worldwide – a third of them with disabilities – who currently do not have access to education.

It was a very exciting moment in our classroom when we realised that two of our writers had been selected for week 33! We all really enjoy the 100 Word Challenge. Well done to all our writers, keep reading and keep writing!

100 Word Challenge

The 100WC is a weekly creative writing challenge for children under the age of 16. Each week, a prompt is given to which the children are challenged to respond through a 100-word creative text. The children’s entries are commented on by teachers from the 100WC team (which I am a part of). These teachers may be from any part of the world. Students are also encouraged to read entries from others and comment on these entries in a supportive fashion.

Our first entries in the 100WC were made on Friday 9th May and have been posted on the blog under the “100 Word Challenge” tab. So far, our first entries have received comments from Luxembourg, the U.K., the U.S.A and Spain.
